What distinguishes this machine is the availability of features professionals require. For example, the Model 1700 includes a volume control on the remote that is standard equipment. This allows the user to dial up the exact amount of fog needed for each effect. Also included are on/off timers for automatic initiation and cessation of a fog effect. Up to four Model 1700 machines can be "daisy chained", or operated together from a single remote. This unique feature is particularly useful in venues where more than one machine is required to fill the space with fog or smoke. The remote control, standard equipment for the Model 1900, is stored on the machine and comes with a 15 foot cable. An optional DMX control (the same as that used with the Model 1700) is available so that the 1900 can be easily operated from a lighting control console. The Model 1900 accepts the same standard hose adaptor and ducting hose as all other Rosco machines.

Though the Hazemaker creates an effect similar to that of a "cracked oil" machine, the New Hazemaker Fluid developed for this machine contains no animal, vegetable or mineral oil, but instead is a water and glycol mixture. By eliminating the oil, Rosco eliminates concerns about residue on sensitive electronic equipment. With the Hazemaker it is no longer necessary to cover or protect control consoles and sound boards. The Hazemaker is also very efficient: it uses one liter of fluid in 53 hours of operation.
